The Dodge City High School volleyball season is over sooner than they had planned. After travelling to Haysville Campus on Saturday for Class 6A sub-state tournament play, the Red Demons lost in the first round to Wichita North in three sets.

GARDEN CITY — They set their goals early.
They knew what they wanted out of the 2009 season.
And on Saturday, they got it. The Dodge City High School Red Demons varsity volleyball team got their Western Athletic Conference title, one of the main goals of the season, winning all four of their matches on Saturday.

DODGE CITY — Timing is everything. According to Red Demons volleyball coach Kate Szymczak and her team, Dodge City High School has come together at just the right time. Just In time for the Western Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday in Garden City. “We talked about the missing puzzle pieces and it’s all coming together right now,” Szymczak said. “It’s the right time, right at WAC when we need it to come together.

LAWRENCE — The Dodge City High School varsity volleyball team took part in the Joan Wells tournament. The Red Demons lost to Maize (25-22, 25-22), fell to Shawnee Mission Northeast (27-25, 19-25, 27-25) and lost to St. James Academy (25-14, 25 -15) against St. James Academy.

DODGE CITY — It's not just a game. At least not to the Dodge City High School Red Demons varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams. Both are having stellar seasons — the varsity is 15-5 and the JV is 17-2 — and it has taken hard work, determination and some really good players to get them where they are.
